"I Forgot to Socialize the Children!" Everything Tote Bag

If you're a homeschooler, you've heard this question at least time & time again, usually it's a store clerk asking my child w they aren't in school, then asking me, once my child informs them we homeschool..."How do you socialize your children!?" Sure, we sort of understand the question, it's annoying and silly, but we understand. True socialization isn't being stuck in a room with kids your own age, though. It's community, it's a variety of ages, genders, and backgrounds. Homeschool communities offer all those things and more. So, next time you meet a homeschool family and you ask their child why they aren't in school. Remember, that child speaking to you IS socializing with an older adult right now. And they are probably a lot more polite to you, too. That's socialization, that's real life...that's homeschool.
